Children’s Privacy Notice

DRAFT — placeholder copy pending legal review before launch. Do not treat as the final agreement.

Myzo is built to be used by kids — many of them under 13. The U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) regulates how online services handle data from kids under 13, and Myzo follows it through the architecture, not as a checkbox.

This notice describes our specific practices for data we collect about children. For everything else, see our Privacy Policy.

Parental consent comes first

No kid profile is created until a parent or legal guardian has created the family account, agreed to this notice, and added the child themselves. A child cannot self-register with Myzo. The parental consent we collect is verifiable consent under COPPA — recorded with a timestamp and tied to the parent account.

What we collect from kids

Only what’s needed to make Myzo work. Specifically:

  • A first name or nickname (parent enters this when adding the child)
  • An age range (so we can adjust complexity in the UI)
  • The tasks and assignments the child types into the app
  • Timer sessions and focus block data generated by their use of the app
  • Optional grades the child or parent logs against tasks
  • Earned points, streaks, and rewards redeemed

What we never collect

  • Child email addresses
  • Photos, audio, or video uploads from kid accounts
  • Phone numbers or contact information
  • Precise location data
  • Persistent identifiers used for behavioral advertising
  • Anything we don’t need to operate the service

What we don't do with kid data

  • We don’t sell it.
  • We don’t share it with advertisers or use it for behavioral profiling.
  • We don’t allow third-party tracking pixels in the kid experience.
  • We don’t use it to train external AI models. Internal feature work runs on aggregated, de-identified usage data only.
  • We don’t allow direct messaging between users (no chat, no DMs, no comments).

Your rights as a parent

You can review, export, or delete any data we hold about your child at any time. You can also revoke your consent and close the kid profile — when you do, we delete all data tied to that child within 14 days.

The fastest path is the parent app: Settings → Kids → [child name] → Delete. You can also email privacy@getmyzo.com or visit our Account Deletion page.
